HCP 303D (another designation: SU46 series) is a series of diesel locomotives, which were produced in the years 1974-1977 and in 1985 at the Hipolit Cegielski in Poznañ (abbreviated: HCP). The service weight of a single locomotive was 105 tons, and its length with buffers - 18.99 m. The diameter of the wheels was 1100 mm, with the Co'Co axis system. In total, 54 locomotives of this type were built.
The HCP 303D locomotive was developed in parallel with the HCP 302D, but it was an extension and modernization of another structure - the SP45 locomotive. Compared to its predecessor, it had a slightly higher service weight, and above all, it was powered by an engine with a much higher rated power of 2,250 hp (W2112SSF engine). It also featured a simplified box structure and modernized trolleys. It was also the first locomotive in the PKP rolling stock to heat passenger carriages with an alternating current generator generating a current of 3 kV. While the design was undoubtedly successful, production ended very quickly with the production of the ET41 locomotive.
