The Saab J-37 Viggen is a Swedish single-engine, multi-role fighter with duck-shaped lobes. Design work on the machine started in 1964, and the flight of the prototype took place on February 8, 1967. Several major versions of this successful aircraft were produced. The AJ-37 Viggen was developed with a large contribution of American technology and experience under the agreement on cooperation and exchange of military technologies concluded between the two governments. This agreement was part of the security guarantees officially given to neutral Sweden by the US government. In return, the US government demanded the protection of nuclear-warhead UGM-27 Polaris missiles deployed along the west coast of Sweden. Consequently, Viggen was developed faster and at less cost than if it had been constructed solely by Sweden. The first fighter-attack aircraft introduced into service. The letters of the AJ designation come from Attack Jakt - assault-hunting. The AJ 37 had seven knots for the suspension of weapons, two under the wings, two at the air intakes and one central under the fuselage, on which a fuel tank could also be installed. There was still space on the panels for two additional suspension points, which, however, were not used. The next version is the SF-37 Viggen, which is a reconnaissance and photographic reconnaissance machine. The flight took place in 1973. Another version is the SH-37, a sea reconnaissance aircraft. A typical fighter plane is the JA-37 Viggen model, which was flown in 1974. It has a stronger engine and - as the only Viggen - permanent shooting weapon. The only Viggen user is the Swedish military.
